Entry Level Fully Balanced DAC
Overview
Welcome to QXD1, a high-performance DAC developed and manufactured by SONCOZ. The minimalist industrial design of QXD1 is impressive. CNC machining of all aluminum body shows its metal charm andsurface anodizing gives an extremely fine feel.
Power Supply
QXD1 is powered by Type-C (5V=1A) interface, Users can choose a conventional adapter or a mobile power supply to power it.
Boot Status
After the QXD1 is powered on, the front panel "USB" and "PWR" indicators light up. Default state is USB input, volume is -60dB.
Filtering Modes Switching
Long press the Mute button for 2 seconds to adjust the filtering mode. The three LED indicators of TOS/COAX/USB will be displayed in combination. Refer to the QXD1 DAC filter mode truth table.

FAQs

Q1: Can the USB-C port be used for power input and signal input simultaneously?

A1: No. It can only be used for power supply.

Q2: Can I use a computer's built-in USB port to power the QXD1?

A2: It is not recommended to use a standard PC USB port for power. Typical PC USB ports provide 500mA, which is insufficient for normal operation of the QXD1 (requires DC: 5V @ 1A).

Q3: Why is there no sound when using Optical input and Coaxial output?

A3: Because only USB to Coaxial output is effective.

Q4: What is recommended to power the QXD1?

A4: A linear power supply is recommended. We recommend the SONCOZ LPI.

Q5: How to put the QXD1 into standby/sleep mode?

A5: The QXD1 is plug-and-play and does not have a sleep/standby mode. It can be muted.

Q6: How to switch filter modes?

A6: Long press the mute button for 2 seconds to cycle through filter modes. The TOS/COAX/USB LEDs will display the current mode in combination. Refer to the QXD1 DAC Filter Mode Setting Truth Table.

Q7: Can I connect headphones directly to the QXD1?

A7: There is no headphone jack. You can use a dual RCA to 3.5mm adapter cable to connect some low-impedance headphones. For HiFi headphones, it is recommended to use a headphone amplifier.

Q8: Can it connect to speakers?

A8: It can connect to active speakers. Passive speakers require an external power amplifier.

Q9: What are the op-amp models in the QXD1?

A9: I/V Circuit: OPA1612 * 2; LPF Circuit: RT6863 * 2.

Q10: What crystal oscillator frequencies are used in the QXD1?

A10: 24 MHz; 45.1584 MHz; 49.152 MHz; 100 MHz.

Q11: The QXD1 is connected and the input is set, but there's no sound. Why?

A11: The initial boot volume is set to minimum. You need to increase the volume. Long press the volume '+' button to increase volume quickly.

Q12: When connected via USB to a computer using Foobar2000 to play a DSD file, and coaxial output to another DAC, why is there no sound?

A12: The DSD to coaxial SPDIF conversion function is not enabled.

Q13: Why is there no response after powering on the QXD1 and connecting cables? Only the power indicator is on.

A13: This is due to insufficient power supply. The unit did not start normally. When started correctly, both the power indicator and the USB indicator will light up.

Q14: Why does the power indicator keep flashing after powering on the QXD1, and there's a repeated clicking sound?

A14: This is due to insufficient power supply. The main board is stuck in a reboot loop. The clicking sound is from the relay. Use a different power adapter, recommended specification: 5V/2A or 3A output.

Q15: Can software be used to control the QXD1's audio?

A15: Yes, it supports the generic USB Audio protocol.

Q16: When connected via USB to a computer, the computer goes to sleep. After waking and playing music, the QXD1 needs repowering to get sound?

A16: When some laptops/PCs sleep, the USB port may power down. This disconnects the DAC chip. The QXD1 needs to be repowered/restarted. Desktop PCs generally don't have this issue; you can just resume playback, the QXD1 can stay on.

Q17: Can the QXD1 adjust tone? Does it have DSP?

A17: It does not support tone adjustment. Different filter modes can be set. It does not have DSP.

Q18: Does the QXD1 have ASRC?

A18: Yes, the clock is asynchronous.

Q19: Can the QXD1 be set to a fixed volume?

A19: No, the QXD1 does not have memory function. However, there is a firmware option for maximum volume (Pure DAC Mode). After flashing this firmware, the unit will power on at maximum volume.

Q20: Can the QXD1 be used as a digital transport?

A20: Yes. USB input can be converted to SPDIF Coaxial digital output.
